What is it?
The Pinecrest Polar Bear Plunge is an event where you jump in the freezing water at Pinecrest lake to celebrate the new year!
When is it?
Be at the lake, waterside and ready to jump @ 2pm on January 1st 2026. After a quick safety brief we jump!.
Where is it?
Pinecrest Lake off Highway 108 in Pinecrest CA
about 40 minutes east of Sonora CA. We never know exactly where we'll jump because the water level is unpredictable but start on the left side of the lake and just keep walking. There is usually someone standing by the snackbar bathrooms
It's free?
Oh yeah!!! We ask for donations for a local non-profit that changes every year.
Why would you jump into freezing cold water?
Mostly for bragging rights! There have been studies that claim there are some health benefits, but we just do it for fun.
